With the sale of their existing house on Sunset Drive to the University, Lambda Chi Alpha was encouraged by Butler to build a new house on a site adjacent to most of the school’s other Greek houses. Our team worked with the Alpha-Alpha Zeta chapter on the design and construction of the new house. It was important to instill a sense of history in the new Tudor styled building, and to replicate some of the architectural elements from the old house. The new 16,879 SF structure sleeps 58 and allows the full chapter to dine, study, and socialize. Innovative design features abound and include a central monumental stair with drop down fire shutters that can act as a fire stair in an emergency. Many study spaces are provided including a library with hand-painted elements of the fraternity created by a brother in the 1940s lining the upper walls. Care was given to fundraising and tax-deduction opportunities.
