Indianapolis Public Library Pike Branch

The T-shape of the Indianapolis Public Library’s Pike Branch had created gaps in visibility and safety, leading to security concerns for staff. And as the highest circulating Indy PL branch because of it’s location next to a high school and the number of teens who visit after school each day, it was also important to create a dedicated safe space for teen patrons without separating other patrons. We designed a vibrant, energetic, LEED-certified library and creatively used the building shape by placing study spaces, plug-in areas, collaboration zones, 1-on-1 and group meeting spaces, a podcast room, and e-gaming space in the pockets of space.
