When one of the largest fire protection companies in the Midwest wanted to establish a presence in downtown Indianapolis, they came to us to help transform a historic structure into a high-tech training center. The juxtaposition of the buildings historic features with state-of-the-art technology is highlighted throughout with exposed ceilings, glass walls, and polished cement hallways creating an open, airy space for innovation. Accents of fire-extinguisher red highlight exposed pillars and pipes, allowing structural elements to reinforce the brand and mission. The center incorporates two training spaces, a classroom with multi-media presentation capabilities and a lab for testing and training new technologies. Light fixtures made from converted fire extinguishers hang above a breakout space off the classroom, echoing the adaptive resuse of the building itself.
