Just a block from Fountain Square, the Cincinnati Enquirer Building was built in 1926 to house the newspaper’s printing facilities and offices. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and was home to the newspaper, in part, until 1992. Since then, the occupancy of the building continued to decline until it fell into disrepair. It lay vacant for many years until it was converted into a dual-brand Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn & Suites. Considerable effort was given to preserving the historic integrity of the structure and its interior. The end result is an eclectic interior that mixes painstakingly restored historic elements with contemporary sensibilities to meet the client’s brand and preservation goals.
